NOTD – Tangerine Tango: The Color of 2012 using Femina Nail Color

Tangerine Tango has been deemed the color for 2012, so I decided to paint my nails the same today. I used shade F-1319 by Femina Nail Colors.

The color of 2012 is a citrus-red hue that will give your weary eyes a break from all of those neutrals. Tangerine Tango, Pantone’s 2012 color of the year, was selected because, “there’s the element of encouragement with orange, it’s building on the ideas of courage and action, that we want to move on to better things. I think it would be a disservice to go with a relaxed, soothing color now,” – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Color of the Year 2012: Tangerine Tango

Known as Pantone 17-463 among members of the interior and fashion design community and simply “Tangie” to family and friends.

Tangerine tango is described by the color-matching company as “a vivacious, enticing hue,” “a provocative go-getter” that’s “a bit exotic, but in a very friendly, non-threatening way” and “a spirited reddish orange … sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive.”

My Experience:

Okay so Femina is a local brand, and their products aren’t available everywhere, but I really liked this shade, so I thought I’d give it a try.

I applied 2 coats of Femina nail color, plus top coat to achieve this result:

Femina Nail Colors come in pretty sleek bottles, have a look:

They have shade numbers, instead of names. :/

Now let’s get down to the review.

Pros:

  • Good brush applicator, goes on very smoothly.
  • Variety of shades available.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have shade identified by names. Numbers get really hard to remember.
  • Takes atleast 2-3 coats, with top coat to get completely opaque.
  • Gets scratched very easily.
  • Takes a long time to dry.

I got this for 65PKR from Tariq Road. Read more about the upcoming tango craze here.

I’ll give it 2.5 BeautyBalls.
